OLĂNEȘTI

Chocolate biscuit salami + SCADA = when humor and technology work together.

WHY?

The story:

Chocolate biscuit salami meets process control.

The first time we arrived at the wastewater treatment plant in Olănești, something didn’t seem exactly… clean.
I asked, “What smells like that?” The answer came with a smile from the local team: “We’re making biscuit salami!”
It was clear they were dealing with things far more… natural. But beyond the joke, we discovered a warm and genuine team who welcomed us with openness and humanity. And they showed us that even waste can be treated with dignity, responsibility — and a subtle sense of humor.

The project became more than a simple technical implementation — it was a meeting of people who believe in the same values. Together with Apavil, we embarked on a journey where technology met heart — and that’s exactly what makes the magic work.

WHAT?

The challenge:

Always on. Always aware.

The wastewater treatment plant in Olănești was operational, but it relied heavily on manual interventions, with low efficiency and limited control over critical parameters. The Apavil team needed:

👁️ Real-time monitoring of treatment processes.

⏱️ Full automation of the mechanical, biological, and chemical treatment stages.

🔧 Remote control and intelligent alarms in case of faults or deviations.

🧠 Integration into a SCADA system for unified visualization and reporting.

In other words, they needed a modern solution that would comply with environmental regulations while also meeting the expectations of a team that sees its work as a social mission.

HOW?

The solution:

Automation with a sense of responsibility (and a sense of smell)

We designed and implemented an automated control system that manages the entire technological process flow.

🔩 What we used:

  • State-of-the-art programmable logic controllers (PLCs), configured to control pumps, blowers, valves, and level and flow sensors.
  • Integrated sensors for pH, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, and ammonium.
  • SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) interface based on zenon by COPA-DATA, providing local and remote visualization, including alarms and historical trends.
  • Modular architecture, designed for future expansions or process adaptations.

Everything was designed to operate autonomously while still giving operators full control — without extra effort or workarounds.

WHAT WAS ACHIEVED?

The result:

Clean, controlled, with a smile

In the end, what remains is not just a system that works, but a place where technology feels human.

🌀 100% automation: all processes are now digitally controlled in real time.
⏱️ Reduced intervention times and increased efficiency in wastewater treatment.
💰 Over 30% savings in operational costs.
📈 Full traceability: data is audited, organized, and ready for any inspection.

😊 And most importantly: the plant team trusts that the system works properly — even while they sleep.
Technology is no longer a concern. It is a partner.
And the facility has become an example of efficiency with a human face.

CLIENT THOUGHTS?

Trust, know-how, and… a little humor!

“Our collaboration with bitYes was surprisingly enjoyable. They brought know-how, but also patience, a sense of humor, and above all, respect for our team. They made our work easier, and now we know the plant runs smoothly even when we’re not there.”

BACKSTAGE

Good jokes and solutions for unpleasant odors

From our very first conversation, the team at Apavil Olănești advised us to bring chewing gum to the site visit. It sounded unusual, and we didn’t quite understand why — but we followed the recommendation.
Once we arrived, we quickly found out: nature has its own charm (and its own distinctive scent), and chewing gum makes it… more manageable.
